Rules and Regulations
- Competitors must be 18 or over and resident in the USA.
- There are 3 online heats to be held via video submission. Each heat will see the competitors display a set skill. The categories are Solo, cover and backing an MC.
- The top 8 competitors of the heats, based on the judges scores, will go through to the Grand Final in NYC during the summer of 2010.
- All applicants have been given equal opportunity to enter, regardless of race, sex or experience.
- Competitors are divided into groups of 5 named Group A, Group B etc.
- Both the Online Battles and Grand Final are split into the three categories - solo, coverand backing an MC. The Grand Final will also have 2 extra face-off battles.
- Once the four category rounds are finished in the Grand Final, 2 face-off battles will take place to decide the final outcome. The 4 highest scoring competitors will enter the face-off rounds. The competitor in fourth place (4th) will battle the third place (3rd) position holder to decide the ultimate 3rd place finisher. The second (2nd) and first (1st) place competitors will face-off for the title of US Beatbox Champion!
- Each face-off battle will comprise of 2 x 2 min rounds, with the competitors doing alternate solos eg, Battler A does a 2 minute solo, the mic then goes to battler B for 2 mins, then back to A for 2 mins, then back to B for a final 2 mins. The battle is scored by the judges as per the scoring system outlined below.
- The online battles will be divided up into 2 week intervals running Jan 11th to March 7th, 2010.
- Video submissions must be recieved at least 1 week prior to the start date of that category. For full details relating to video submission (including each categories specific format), click here.
- Grand Final: The 8 top competitors from the online battles will go through to the live final in NYC. The format for the final is the same as for the videos, except that the performances are given live.
- The videos for each category will be hosted on the WBA youtube channel, and posted on the forum for the beatbox community to vote on.
- The Judges will award points from 1-5 for each video in each group based on musicality, creativity, technical ability, originality and the public votes. The highest scoring 8 competitors will go through to the Grand Final.
- The Judges' decision is final.
- The Judges will award points to each competitor during each round based on musicality, creativity, technical ability, originality and the crowd reaction.
- The competior with the highest score wins the title of US Beatbox Champion 2010!

- The tournament is open to beatboxers only.
- Microphones, monitors and water will be provided.
- Competitors should not perform beatbox routines as already performed in public by other beatboxers, to the best of their knowledge.
- Competitors should be alert and near the stage at the beginning of the proceedings. Failure to arrive on stage when called up will result in disqualification.
- No cash alternative or alternative prize is available.
- Competitors who are rude, abusive or deemed otherwise unsuitable by the organisers will be disqualified from the competition.
- We will keep your personal details for a reasonable time so that we can send you any prize that you have won, to verify that these rules have been complied with, and for accounting purposes. We may pass your details on to our service providers and agents for the purposes of sending you the prize on our behalf.
- By participating in this event you permit the recording of your contributions and assign to the organisers the complete copyright and all other rights in your contributions for use in all media.
- The organisers may edit or adapt your contributions and by participating you waive any “moral rights” you may have in them.
- The organisers will not be held liable for any damage, loss or disappointment suffered by any person taking part or not being able to take part in the tournament.
- We reserve the right to amend or alter the format at any time without prior notice. Entry in the competition implies acceptance of these rules.
- For the entrant to be a winner they must comply fully with the remaining terms and conditions set out below.
- Employees of the World Beatbox Association and Humanbeatbox.com, their retailers, agencies and anyone else professionally connected with this promotion are not eligible to enter.
- The National Championship Prize consists of the title, and prize packs from our sponsors.
- The promoters’ decision is final. The prize may not be exchanged, is non-transferable and there is no cash alternative. It is a condition of entry that all competitors agree to abide by the rules.
- Winners will agree to participate in publicity.
- Closing date is for applications is Dec 31st 2009.
